Guided tours of the Bishop's Palace take place every Wednesday afternoon, 2-4pm. Tours cost £5 for adults. Free to HHA members, students and anyone under 18 years of age. You don't need to book. Just turn up. Come and see us and find out more about the exceptional and largely hidden history of Farnham's Norman Castle.
The Exhibition Room is also open each Wednesday afternoon, free of charge to visitors. Unfortunately, entrance to the Keep is currently closed because of falling masonry and safety concerns. It is unlikely to reopen until 2026.

I would just like to thank you, and our guide in particular, for the wonderful tour she gave me and my young blind friend last Wednesday.
Please thank her so much for the care and time she gave to our tour. My friend particularly loved the atmosphere in the bishop’s chapel and was captivated by the wood carvings up the stairs.
Thank you so much again

We visited as a group of 4 and found the tour brilliant and really informative. Our guide was excellent with a brilliant knowledge of the castle and the history of Farnham and England as a whole. The castle itself was incredibly beautiful and interesting with a history of its own. The cost of £5 per person was great value for money. Would certainly do it again with friends and visitors.

We visited Farnham Castle for a guided tour led by an incredibly knowledgeable guide, who did a fantastic job showing us around and sharing fascinating insights into the castle’s rich history. It was amazing to see remnants of the past, such as the tiny room containing a slab of slate where an old bishop once slept, and the ancient wooden beams that have stood the test of time. Although the keep is currently closed, the history embedded within the castle walls and its grounds is fascinating.

Although Farnham Castle keep is closed because of maintenance issues the Bishop's Palace remains open and welcomes visitors on guided tours Wednesday afternoons. My guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
The Bishop's Palace contains a wealth of information and some stunning rooms. The views over Farnham are wonderful. I learnt so much about the power and wealth of the Church, especially in the period before the English Reformation. There is a medieval great hall, kitchen, chapels, Tudor wing and fabulous staircase. I discovered the roof in Westminster Hall was built in Farnham and its inspiration is concealed within the Palace! Farnham is a beautiful town and the Castle is certainly the jewel in its crown!
